Examination pattern of the Indian Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Exams

The Indian Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts various exams to recruit eligible candidates for different positions in the railway sector. These exams follow a specific pattern to ensure a fair and transparent selection process. In this document, we will discuss the examination pattern of RRB exams:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) Phase 1

The first stage of the examination is the CBT Phase 1. This stage is common for all the posts and consists of multiple-choice questions. The exam duration is usually 90 minutes, and it is conducted online.

The CBT Phase 1 exam consists of sections such as Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. The syllabus for each section may vary based on the post applied for. The mathematics section tests your knowledge of numerical ability, arithmetic problems, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation.

The General Intelligence and Reasoning section evaluates your logical reasoning, analytical skills, pattern recognition, and problem-solving abilities. The General Science section includes questions from physics, chemistry, and biology.

The General Awareness section tests your knowledge of current affairs, history, geography, economy, and general science. You need to answer a specific number of questions within the given exam duration. Each question carries one mark, and there is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every incorrect answer.

2. Computer-Based Test (CBT) Phase 2

The CBT Phase 2 is conducted for certain posts that require an additional level of knowledge and skills. The exam pattern for CBT Phase 2 may vary depending on the post applied for.

The exam duration and the number of sections depend on different posts. The questions in this stage are more in-depth and require a higher level of understanding and application of concepts.

The sections may include Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness, and Technical Abilities, depending on the post. Similar to CBT Phase 1, each question carries one mark, and there is a negative marking of 1/3rd for every incorrect answer. If you qualify for phase 2, then you are called for the next and final stage is document Verification/Interview.

3. Document Verification/Interview

After successfully clearing CBT Phase 1 and CBT Phase 2, you are called for Document Verification/Interview. In this stage, you have to bring all the required documents such as educational certificates, caste certificates, identity proof, etc., for verification purposes.

So, your final selection is based on your performance in all the stages of the examination, including CBT Phase 1, CBT Phase 2, and Document Verification/Interview. If you obtain the required cut-off marks and clear the document verification process you are offered the job.

You should focus on strengthening their basics and developing a proper study plan. Regular practice and revision are key to success. It is also advisable to stay updated with current affairs and general knowledge topics to perform well in the General Awareness section.

So, you must prepare diligently and meet the required criteria at each stage to secure a position in the Indian Railways. Special thanks to you cause you investing your time in this valuable information.
